The 2-4-6-8 represents the diamiter of the bore. Goes like this
2 = 1"1/4
4 = 1"1/2
6 = 1"3/4
8 = 2"
on the HIF's there were also
44 = 44mm
66 = 66mm
The SU's were made in these styles
H Early 40-50's
HD First improvement 50-60's
HS This is the one you find on real sports car's 60-70's
HIF Last incarnation late 70's to 90's
Try and find out what angle it's ment to be mounted at it goes from 0 to
30deg.
Have a look at the manifold, and see if the bore on the manifold is
eactly the same width as the inlet bore on the block. You may need to
bore the manifold out slightly, mind you the narower inlet bore will
improve low level tourque.
