The smaller flange mates up with the earlier (Herald, Spitfire through
Mk.3) differential; the larger flange is Spitfire Mk.IV to the end (also
GT6, Vitesse, but let's not go there for now).
Again, the axle shafts themselves are the same for either side. So, if
you had the right equipment to press the assembly apart, you could use a
replacement shaft on either side of the car.
