I'm not positive about the Gen2s....They _should_ be the same because the basic
doors are the same, but for Gen 1 you are (partly) thinking about the doorsill
moldings, which go at the base of the windows. For SLOs and Plusses they have
chrome inserts, and also (ah yes, what you really meant...) there is chrome
around the outside of the windows at the tops of the doors (and the outside
mirror, and the rear quarter windows). That chrome is separate from the window
runs, which are all the same. It pop rivets to the door frame before the run
goes in. The runs just slide in (very firmly) into the top structure of the
window frame, and in the front doors some of them bolt to the very lower front
inside the door structure...to help keep alignment proper for the window as it
goes down. With practice, a door comes apart for me in about 10 minutes. The
parts can all be swapped without removing or risking the window.
All these parts are readily available in almost like new condition out here in
Ca. The rear quarter windows are the hard part. They glue in with black super
strong adhesive....windshield adhesive....and are almost impossible to get out.
Cutting them loose in one piece requires a special knife that goes into an
air tool....I watched them do that with BD at Lowriders surgeon's place. With
my history of welding backs of cars onto fronts, I'm well familiar with THAT
hassle.
Ask me if you all need any of these parts. They are super cheap....you can
redo a whole car for about 20-30 bucks.
