It all depends on the tire and tread design. "Standard"(well what I call
"standard") tires with tread blocks on the edges (like the stock GY RSAs I
had on my '99) will get chewed up on the track.
OTOH. Tread designs like the Yoko ES100 are fine right from the tire store.

Jim,
You don't want to get new tires prior to a track event. You'll chunk
them all to hell. I'd use what you have on there and then replace them
after.
Hope to see you there.

If I can get my act together, I'll be at Gingerman this Thursday. Its
only 80 miles away, but with an hour time change, I might want
to spend Wed. night up close to the track.
Wonder where everybody is staying?
Need to work on oil, tires, brakes, etc, and of course work will
get in the way...
Also wondering of the logic of stopping by Tire Rack for new rubber
just prior to this event, or just trashing the somewhat marginal
Nitto rubber that came with David Bonds' '95MTX?
