Hi Mark, I found the same on Amazon but the internal threads are 1/2=
-20 and I=20
need 1/2-13 so that=20
won't work... although the thing on msc site
might do the trick... I wonder if it's=20
considered a one time on/off adapter, or would it take multiple on/off=
 cycles=20
on the external=20
5/8" thread ?? =20
don't know what the red material on the adapter is.. I'll bookmark th=
at page

I contacted a local tool repair place (Toolsmith) explained my proble=
m and he found a 6148 spindle (like mine) and he offered to try it in =
the
6145 grinder if I brought it by to see if it would fit... he cautione=
d that the gear drive might be larger for the larger spindle though. =
I'm gonna go by
there next week and see what happens

Worst case is that I use the small spindle grinder for disk that are n=
ot threaded and use the spindle nut reversed to take up the slack in a=
 5/8 hole disc
and use the grinder with the 5/8 spindle for the threaded stuff... I=
t would be nice if everything worked in everything, but that has never=
 happened in my 73 years=20
(tomorrow) on this earth, why should it happen now ???

2020  sheese=E2=80=A6  I think I hear thunder... but based on this yea=
r... it could be Godzilla !!!!!

john

Howdy,

Something like this maybe?

I'm not sure what thread pitch a 5/8"=20
grinder spindle uses.=20

There's not a lot of wall thickness for a 5/8" to 1/2" adapter.  Would=
n't=20
surprise me if regular / coarse pitch stuff=20
wouldn't have enough wall thickness for an adapter to work?

It does look like there'=20
some type of thread repair thing for those pitches though:

Doesn't the grinder already have a...uh...uh...thing that if you flip =
it=20
over it's got a 5/8in boss on it to center the wheel?

I have never encountered an angle grinder that didn't have a centering=
=20
thing for a 5/8in wheel no matter the shaft size.

John.
