I'm not following you here, David. Even with a 2-line phone, as long as the
patch cords are wired 1-1, they should not care which wire is paired with
which wire. That has been true even for the multi-line digital signaling
systems I've worked with. The only real difference between 568A termination
and 568B termination is the color of the pairs ... can your phones see in
color?

I presume you mean the 568A termination, rather than the obsolete 568A
standard. The old standard didn't even mention Cat 5e, let alone Cat 6.
However EIA-568-B recommends using the 568A termination.
