Do you have access to a lathe? Shave a little off of the outside of the
impact....it will probably still be strong enough.....
Lacking a lathe you could probably do a satisfactory job by chucking it in a
drill press, spinning it and then use a grinder to trim it down.

On newer Volvo 6 cyl engines the 14mm head bolts are recessed down a
hole. an impact socket wont quite fit down the opening.
So I use a "plain"' 6 point socket. Sadly these go round fairly
quickly or round off the bolt head.
the tightening torque is 90ft/lb plus 90 degrees, so they are quite tight,
and I cant ream the hole without damaging the head.
any ideas, hints?
