So here's my suggestion (I've only been married for three years. But I'm
37, so I'm working at a disadvantage to some of the other folks
responding... :-)...
Anyway, instead of making her something with the lathe (which is nice,
don't get me wrong), learn to use it _with_ her. Take a class together,
work on stuff together, or whatever. (If, of course, she wants to do it).
If she's never turned a screwdriver, that might mean that you'll be
spending way more time going slower than you want to, but you might have
fun teaching the super basics and seeing a totally fresh viewpoint.
