Interesting, yes, but perhaps still just a wee bit biased. Does that "2
psi/month" apply to car tires inflated to 3 atmospheres, or only truck tires at
7.5 atm ? And they still fail to mention that the percentage of N2 in the tire
will increase each time you fill it, even if you're filling it with air. Seems
odd considering how much space they devote to explaining that even filling with
95% nitrogen doesn't get you 95% in the tire.
And what is that other 5% anyway ? If it's water vapor ...
"Scientific" ... well gee, science means we test our theories; the only test I
see referenced apparently only shows that proper tire inflation increases tire
life. If someone has actually done tire life tests with nitrogen vs air with
the same tire on the same vehicle, it would be nice to hear about it.
The dangers of "rust and dust from wheels" clogging valve stems seems overstated
too ... can't cause a leak unless it's either in the valve seal area itself, or
keeps the valve assembly from sealing to the stem. So you would have to either
have just opened the valve, which generally only happens right after you've
added air, blowing the crud out of the stem; or when you're inserting the valve
after installing the tire, when the stem should be new (for a car tire) anyway.
Besides which, that's one of the purposes of the dust cap, to add a secondary
seal.
