I chose propane because I don't expect to be using the generator more
than a dozen hours per year, barring an extremely long storm, and
propane stores better than diesel. The water heater and cookstove are
on the same tank.
Friends who have had diesel tanks have found strange things can grow
in diesel, and that it takes a fair amount of work to clear and clean
the tank up. I don't need that. If I had a couple of diesel tractors
I might have chosen diesel for the generator too.
