Wow, around here (Asheville, NC) the price quoted last month was
$2.10 - $2.21 / gal. I've been really ticked off at my company; I
have a leased 250/G tank that used to be $85/year, and they upped it
to $115 due to my low usage. The only stuff on it is the water
heater, gas grille, and fireplace. I think $600 a year is ABSURD for
that. I've offered to buy the tank from them, but apparently no one
there has a friggin' clue what amortization is, and reject what I
think is a deal. Electricity here is only $0.078/KWH which I'm told
is extremely low.
When I grudgingly ordered 100 gal last week, the price had gone up to
$2.38/G, and the bastards added a $4 "fuel surcharge". Diesel is
back down to the same price as always here. I'm going to mail them a
check and deduct postage and 3 miles round trip at IRS standard
mileage to the post office :) Then tell them to come dig up their
underground take at THEIR expense when it's empty. Yeah, I'm bitter.
