I've got a Sthil as well and it's great! The string seem heavier than most and 
does a good job. I've used the blade a couple of times on heavy stuff with no 
problems. Have you ever seen the chain type adaptors than can be had from TSC? 
Might do the job with the Ryobi you now have.
