To update you on my impact wrench saga...
Well, the majority of you out there seemed to like the IR 2131(or the
Craftsman named one). So I did some shopping and found it for $169.99 on
Northern. I then went to the local Sears, armed with the ad. They gave
me it for Northern's price (but I had to spend some time convincing the
guy that "ECommerce" meant internet sales. Where do they find these
guys?)
FWIW, Sears price on the IR was $199.99 and the CM version (which sat
right next to it and was identical except a chrome nose piece) was
$189.99.
So, I get home, and hook up my air line and set it for 90psi (max for the
unit). Then, I try the lug nuts that have been given me problems. (FWIW,
these are 1"1/8th lug nuts off a GMC box truck). Nothing.
Now, I have a few questions...
The inlet for the gun is only 1/4" (I'm using 3/8" hoses and couplers up
to "lead hose" to the gun.(the lead hose is about 24" long and has a
swivel end.)
Is there a way to increase the air delivery even though the gun can only
use 1/4"?
Next, the documentation states that 90PSI is max working pressure. Can I
increase that? (Note, I have plenty of PSI and CFM available)
Any ideas about getting these lugs off? (FWIW, I was able to remove the
other sides without to much of a problem. I think that a shop worked on
this wheel on the truck with a 1" IP wrench and major torque.) I already
bent a cheater bar on my beater bar. I was thinking heat. Any ideas?
TIA
Other than that, I really like the IR 2131A (yes, they all seem to have
the "A" in the model number.)
