Isn't THHN the most common insulation type, and doesn't the chart show
55 amps being the max for 8 gauge at normal temperatures?  What am I
missing?  I'd hate to see Eugene tear up his garage just because the
nice (commissioned?) salesman said he needed bigger wire.  Do you have
TW or UF insulation on your current 8 gauge?
