MIG Welder

Hello Listers,

It looks like I have an opportunity to receive a MIG welder fro Christmas.
Last night I went to the local store to "check them out" and found out that
they only carry Clarke brand welders. The sales person apologized  for that
brand and recommended not buying one. My dilema now is where to find one.
Either through the mail or through a store (Chicago area). I would
appreciate any recommendations on where and what to buy.
