Pretty typical of those Kohlers - generally it is the oil ring. I would
replace the rings and lightly hone the cylinder wall. Replace the head
gasket and buy new bolts from Kohler to put the head back on - the old
ones are surely stretched out and won't stay torqued properly. When you
torque the head down, follow the directions, then run the engine for 15
minutes and check the torque again. Note that those engines do not have
replaceable rod bearings - if you decide to plastigage the rod bearing
and it is too worn, you have to replace the whole connecting rod. 

That is about it.
