And don't forget that octane is measured several ways.  There are two basic
methods of measuring octane.  There's the "Research Octane", which is
measured with cool intake air, at a constant RPM, and a number of other
unrealistic conditions.  There's also the "Motor Octane", which is measured
under more realistic conditions.  The research number is higher than the motor
number.  What's on the pump in the US is (R+M)/2.  In much of the rest of
the world, it's the research octane number.  If something calls for 100
octane gas, it's probably refering to the research numbers.
