I second the endorsement of the Little Giant. Nothing else comes close.
It is one of the best tools you can own.
I bought my first at an auction, cheap. It had one bent leg on the upper
secton, but I merely shortened that side. With the base extensions in
place, it is completely usable. The only limitation is that it won't go
to the highest stepladder extension (except on a stairway). I bought a
larger one at a booth at the Barrett-Jackson Auction in Scottsdale about
five years ago.
