Actually, you need a temp of about 950d F to anneal copper "dead soft" ...... There are different "red hots".... too hot will damage...Quenching in water is faster but not necessary..just letting the item cool in ambient air will suffice. The oxidized scale needs to be removed using a 'scotch - bright' pad. Mordy . You can resoften them by getting them red hot and dumping it in cold water (opposite of what you'd do with steel). > > > |
