Most, if not all self-service car washes in the States recycle and =
filter all that water that goes down the drain, where it is stored in =
huge holding tanks. It's the law. Most people use these places to wash =
their engines but if it's not allowed, there will be a sign posted. =
Also, most self-service car washes are unmanned, they only come out to =
empty the coin boxes and service the filtration system. There's no guilt =
involved when cleaning the engine at one of these places as it's =
certainly better than doing it in your driveway.
