george,
8 point sockets are used for the four corner bolts.. you can fiddle
with a 12 of the wrong size and get it loose (sometimes) but the
proper tool is an 8 point...Have a few of them and nothin works better
when you need them

were'nt the 12 point sockets useable for the old four corner bolts. These
were on old machinery at one time. I have also wondered if I should buy
some for this reason. I personaly like the six point sockets.
