SNAP-ON:
I have recently become acquainted with the local Snap-On man --- he's the
coach of my son's soccer team. Great guy, loves kids, great coach, knows
every mechanic in the area.
On my first visit into his truck (for me, it's Wonderland), I told him to
call me if he ever wanted to sell the business. He proceeded to tell me
about his investments --- about $200,000 in inventory in just the truck and
the tools it contains (and man, it was loaded); also, another $100,000 in
credit to all the mechanics he services.
I didn't realize this, but one of his income sources is the credit line he
offers to all the mechanics. None of them could afford the tools if he
didn't do this. (yeah, no kidding.) I don't know, but I'll guess that
Snap-On allows him to buy on credit, too. He did say that Snap-On agrees
to buy back all his inventory should he ever want to get out.
POZI-DRIVE:
One of my reasons for visiting the truck was to purchase #2 and #3
pozi-drive screwdrivers. WOW, is there ever a difference. I had no idea
how much better the fit would be on all those pozi-drive fasteners on my
cars! Not inexpensive, though. Set me back about $35. However, if you
want just the pozi-drive bits for your power screwdrivers, they can be had
for only a couple bucks apiece.
When I grow up, I want to sell tools, not just use them.
