-> I'll get to mounting some light over it Real Soon.

Lots of light is a must. I have six 8' flourescent fixtures, with
additional 4' fixtures over the lathe and mill. When I get around to it
I will replace the 8' flourescents with high-efficiency incandescents.
I also need to add some more local lighting over some work areas.

I never did finish the ceiling in my shop, but the walls are white
painted drywall and the floor is painted light gray. That helps a lot.

My Dad's woodworking shop is 36x36 square, 1-1/2 stories tall. He
worked out there for years with a 150W light bulb hung in the middle and
a 4' flourescent over one bench. He started having some eye problems
when he turned 67 and pretty much quit working out there. He would
never admit it, but he was afraid he'd saw some fingers off. So each
time I was over, I'd make comments like, "jeez, it's dim in here" and
"got a flashlight?" Then I'd brag about the lights in my shop for a
while. Pretty soon he had the entire inside of the shop, benches and
all, painted white, white melamine countertops, light gray epoxy
floor coating, lots of flourescent ambient lighting and incandescent
zone lighting over every power tool and work area. He probably spends
ten hours a day puttering around out there now.
