Berry,
These pumps are rebuildable and come apart fairly easily. When
you say noisy, I assume you mean a clicking sound. If this is the case,
check for a sticking piston. Sometimes moisture in the hydraulic fluid
will
corrode the guts. The piston and bore should be cleaned of corrosion
with a mild
acid solution, like a rust-stain-removing bathroom cleaner. If the bore
is
pitted, the pump will need to be replaced.
I want to keep the complete hydraulic system of my car intact. I
like
the brake feel and having the load levellers.

Um, well, I can't say I approve but hell, it's YOUR car. At least you
aren't
butchering the car too much, and seem to have thought about it. I
wondered
what yo would do about the brakes. (My #2 pump is pretty noisy -- I have
a
'66 T.
