Wrong answer. 12v to the hot side, case to ground (this is important);
ground wire going to sending unit should = empty
no connect wire going to sending unit should = full.

i'm wiring my truck and thought i should test my gauges. i'm not having any
luck.

i believe it should have gone all the way to hot, is my thought proccess

it came up to cold and wouldn't move from there.

amp gauge: i replaced the stock amp gauge with a volt gauge and made it look
stock.
pretty cool. i set it up to run in the middle of the gauge at 14 v.
if it goes low or high, i'd have to test it with a multi-meter to trouble
shoot it.
but it is a good indicator of my the general health of the charging system.
i'll do a write up w/ photos if anyone is interested
back to the temp gauge. is it shot?Kurt 58 3100 Apache project the "Duracell
