What year truck is it coming out of? There may be some answers right there.
I'm sure others on the list have more current experience with this than I
do. It was 25 years ago that I last worked on a TF truck... If I remember
right the crossmember already had holes for the stock type engine mounts. I
don't remember if the mounts from the six worked on the eight or not, but
I'm thinking they were of a similar design.
Unless your current motor and bell-housing are newer than your truck you'll
want the bellhousing, and I'd grab all the clutch parts if it were me,
including the cross-shaft and other linkage.
I hope this is helpful. And I won't be surprised if others can add a lot of
useful detail, and maybe even corrections...

Subject: [oletrucks] TF V8 conversion
Hey all- Just ran across a 283 at a price that I couldn't turn down, with
the
intent of swapping it into my '57 3100. The engine is complete and running,
but I'm not sure what pieces I need to make it work in my truck. I guess
I'm
now in need of a front mount, but also, how do I hook my floor starter
button
to it? Anything else I need? Will my existing bellhousing work? What
about
the clutch assembly? The truck it is coming out of is also a 4 speed, so I
can grab the bellhousing if necessary.
Thanks,
Devin
