First of all:
Mark, thanks for the kudo, but I am no expert. Not on these trucks, not on
life, not on anything. I just like doing what I do. :>)
That said, I do agree that this truck looks very suspect. Of course the
paint is wrong, the wheels are wrong, as he mentions the tailgate and
taillights are wrong, also should not have tailgate chains at all, the rear
bumper appears to consist of the correct parts although the bumper ends and
bumper guards should be chrome, outside rear view mirror is wrong, no
windshield rubber chrome, missing chrome around windows on the doors and
backlight, the seller did state that the chrome is missing on the tops of
the bed sides, steering wheel is wrong, seat cover is wrong, I'm not sure
about a 4bbl being available, can't be sure but the gauge panel does not
appear to be correct, the small chrome piece at the bottom front of the bed
is missing, BUT the optional hood bird is correct for years 55-57. Also, I
think that he is off on the production numbers. My understanding is that
for the 4 years of production, there were about 1000 GMC's produced with
about 100 in the final year ('58). Haven't seen one with a outside
sunvisor, but that could have been added by the dealer or anyone. Hard to
believe that it has one million miles on it, that's an average of 21277
miles each and every year.
I am sure that I will be corrected, and hopefully so, if I have misstated
anything.
