[oletrucks] 9" rear end

Since I got no response from the previous question, maybe someone could comment 
on why people use 9" rear ends on their street rods.  What are the advantages?  
And what donor vehicles are good ones for the 9" rear ends?

The guy helping me with my truck is ready to install the rear end and has 
recommended an 8" but I really don't understand the difference.
