In this instance I can chop upto 1" total without modifying the 
frame.  From what I had read else where, the 1/2 ton 70's 
front suspension was for the early 1/2 ton trucks.  I ran 
across one person doing a conversion to a 3/4 ton and was 
using a 3/4 ton late model front suspension.  He mentioned 
that it was only 2" per side difference.  Thats why I was so 
surprised by my 3.5" difference.
