I've got like 3-6 VIN plates from various AD part trucks that have gone to
that  great big truck stop in the sky... GMC and Chevy = ton thru 1.5 ton.
I'll look to see if one is a > ton... and let you know.

                I don't know about ADs but TFs had the VIN also stamped on
the frame in two
                places, one by the steering box and one near the drivers
side rear cab
                mount.

                Thanks.  Luckily, the PO had the title, so I'm totally legal
now with my own
                title and new registration.  I was only going for
authenticity as far as the
                VIN/door plate was concerned.  I guess it's a lost cause...

                The number you have looks like the engine serial number
which was commonly
                used to register the vehicle.  There is no way of getting a
door plate
                number correct by guessing because it contains the actual
production number
                of your truck as well as the plant it was produced in.
