Can someone please provide me with a known-good example of a 50 3600 VIN so
that I can take and educated guess at the correct VIN for my vehicle?
When I purchased my 50 3600 (well, actually 3604 as it is the pickup), there
were nearly no markings from which I could get the VIN, except the
registration. The ID plate in the door frame was gone, the original engine
and tranny were gone, and all I had to work with was the present, valid
registration papers. I want to make a correction through the DMV and get a
new door post plate to make things right.
I know there are VIN decoders on the web; it is using them that has
convinced me mine is wrong, at least in the first section (the letters). My
guess is the numbers are right, but someone along the line misread a letter
and registered that way, and then the door post ID vanished. Maybe these
things happened in reverse order. I don't know
Here's what the registration says: AHCA757910. I'm betting I (or someone
out there) can fill in the blanks and fix the mistakes in this.
By the way, I like to take this opportunity to state what most of you
already know: this post is a fantastic resource... I have learned a
tremendous amount by reading the threads, and appreciate the time all of you
take to share. As I learn more, I hope to contribute as much as I take
away.
Thanks in advance,
Jeff Noyes
