Thanks to all who responded. Just found a 1967 Chilton's that has
distributor specs. For the 283 it says 40 initial, 300 centrifugal at
4100 rpm and 150 vacuum at 15.5" (crank degrees). I guess I'll aim for
that.

I put a 350 in my '85 and was concerned about timing advance even
working. I found this on the internet and saved it:

I put some timing tape on the balancer, my results are at the bottom of
the page. I was gonna mess with it a little and maybe get the advance to
come in sooner but figured it was close enough.
