Mark, the number you are looking for is an 8 digit number with a combination 
of letters and numbers, this is an example of the number that is on the 305 
block I have in the baack yard. T1203CPC, this is located on the right front 
of the block sticking out from the bottom of the head. You may also find 
another number stamped alongside the engine number, that will be the VIN of 
the origonal car the engine came out of. That number can also be traced to 
find out exactly where the engine was first installed and in what it was 
installed in.
