Try this if you cannot afford a new battery. Take out battery. Tape or
insulate post. Drain battery saving the acid and using proper safety to not
get any acid on your body. Turn battery over and rap bottom a few times with
rubber mallet or 2x4 and hammer. Turn battery back over and refill with saved
acid. Battery should hold charge now. By doing this you are leveling out the
corrosion off the plates that builds up and shorts them out.
This was told to me by an old timer at an Oxide plant. Haven't tried it but
old timers usually are right.
