I found a neat R/C ( with cable attached, not true "remote control " )
tonite at a toy outlet store that sells overstocked items from the K & B toy
stores. It's a 1/12th scale Cameo pickup truck, it's a yellow cream color,
has a sun visor option. However, it IS made in Hong Kong, and it's not
exactly correct, it says Chevy Cameo on the package but has 3100 fender
emblems, and no correct side bed trim for a Cameo. They got the tail lights
right, though. Still it IS a rather large Cameo truck model, the windows are
a translucent white color, so you can't see into the cab itself. And for you
on a budget, being from the Outlet store, it was only $9.99. I haven't
unpackaged it yet to try it out. The box shows both a Cameo and a '57 Chevy
hardtop ( red ), the item itself is called the Rock 'N Roadster, made by
Joystar Int'l, ( H.K.) Co, Ltd. in Hong Kong. It's probably a cheap thing
that won't run long, but the body itself is worth saving for some other use,
or display purposes. I also picked up a few of the golden Johnny Lightning
'55 Cameo trucks in the Post Office series, for $2 each, plus a GMC Syclone
and a Studebaker truck. Not a bad TF truck nite for me! There were a bunch (
probably 15 ) of the big 1/12th scale R/C trucks on hand, if no one can find
any, and desparately want one, I'll pick one up to ship to you, plus
shipping/handling charges. Visit your local Mall K&B toy stores to see if
they have them there. Might could graft this body onto a real R/C chassis.
It's about 16 inches long by 6 inches high, pretty big!
Well, that's all for my Toy Truck Report for the nite. There were a few
Classic Trucking magazines in Books-A-Million , had a few relevant articles,
but alot of non-Chevy items. I didn't buy any of them. Have a good Election
nite!
