My engine ('59 model 235) runs great, keeps good oil pressure, never runs
hot, plenty of get up and go. But I notice a loud roar from the engine that
hasn't been there before, loudest at about 60 MPH. Actually 60 is about as
fast as I drive anyway.
It seems to be coming from right inside the valve cover, as near as I can
tell when I'm parked with the hood up. I pulled the valve cover, no
excessive tappet noise, oil circulation is good, and I can't seem to
pinpoint it. Almost sounds like an exhaust leak or something, but I can't
find any sign of one. Anyone have any ideas? Something between a loud
rattle and a roaring sound, if that makes any sense.
Thanks!
