Just picked up a nice '50 3100. Problem:

The PO had gotten started on the bodywork. It was primed, not painted, and
then sat outside for who knows how long. It still looks good but there are a
couple of places where (ack!) I see some rust bleed starting thru the
primer.

I want to get it to a temporary hold state. I don't have time for a full-on
restoration project right now, but I don't want to sit by and watch it
deteriorate until I can do it right.

I assume I gotta take off all the primer and redo it all ASAP. What's the
Best Way to put the thing on hold? Sand it or chem strip it to metal and
repaint with etching primer? Do I need to paint it as well at this point?
It's going to be sitting outside, but I hate to have to do a temporary paint
job, and then redo it later (in a year or two).

Thanks.....Jay
