Hi Joe
If memory serves me, i got mine off of a 1981 6 cylinder Chevy truck.
I used the one with the coil in the cap. It works great.
I did the work myself in my barn with a cutoff wheel and grinder
I took careful measurements of the original one and cut the shaft on
both the new one and the original to get the right length, i veed them
and welded them together using my vise and mig welder . i then ground
the shaft smooth and round so i could get the gear on then drilled the shaft
and put the gear on with a drift pin.
i have some files that other lads on the list made telling how to do it
i could send them to you if you like
