As one who prefers the look of the generator I have to take issue. A battery
will not stay charged longer because it was charged. by an alternator. I also
don't think a alternator charges faster but this may depend on the alternator. I
swear by Delco batteries and have had this one for 8 years and 25K and it will
still crank all day. Never had anything close to a dead battery yet with my
generator. I won't deny that at low RPM, as in at idle the alternator will
charge when the generator won't. If you have air and other accessories and sit
in traffic often, then an alternator is a good idea. With no air I've never had
this be a problem, and keeping and eye on the ammeter and using the throttle
cable works for me. Was in some horrendous traffic jams this weekend.
