Jim,
I have parts manuals from '39 - 53 and from '58. Transmission sections show
different part numbers for the input shaft, bearings etc. Not to say it
won't work, maybe the later numbers supercede the old ones, but I wouldn't
count on it. Main shafts are definitely different due to open vs closed
driveline.
