I finally got my '54 pickup back from the body shop after a week and a
half of grill repairs. The reason it took so long for what appeared to be
some minor repairs was that a previous owner had repaired previous damages
to the grill with a significant amount of Bondo and half-assedness. The
grill buckled in the same places it must have buckled previously, where
there was just a bit of weld or some Bondo. This made the grill more or
less unrepairable, according to the body shop.
So I'm sure that nobody on this list needs to be reminded of this, but
doing repairs half-assed only leads to big headaches in the future. As
for me, I'm just happy to have my truck back, with its gleaming white
grill. Now if I could just find my title so the other guy's insurance
company can pay me back for the repairs...
