There have been several parts available/parts wanted posts lately, so I'll
join the crowd.

Looking for bed sides (long bed) from any bed prior to 55-1. Prefer older
than '47 but will be able to use later ones.

One of my projects is building a 1938 Chev 'doolie' pickup. Have the 38 cab,
an 86 3/4 ton frame, a Dana 60 posi rear end (3.73), a turbo 400 and 350
Chevy with crossfire injection. Lots of work to do....

For the bed, I plan to take long bed sides and use some 46 pickup fenders on
the outside and 72 wheel houses on the inside. Think of a fleetside doolie
bed in width but looking like a stepside. Will have to fabricate the front
piece and tailgate, or find a way to weld two existing of each together.

Any parts leads will be appreciated.

Just to show what a glutton for punishment I am, here are my other ongoing
automotive projects in order of vehicle age:

1946 Chevy 1 1/2 ton stake bed. Installing a GM 6.2 diesel and NV4500
transmission, brand new Dana 80 rear axle (4.63) with disk brakes, 19.5 inch
rims and tubeless tires. Have all the above on hand. Looking for the front
solid axle out of a Chev/GMC HD3500 which had disk brakes and takes the 10
lug rims.

1965 Chevy C-10 shortbed with factory air. Putting in a 350 Chevy with Tuned
Port Injection and a beefed 700R4 transmission with a 3.08 Posi rear end.
Haven't decided whether to stick with the power drum brakes or to go for
discs. Have a stepside bed that is kinda rusty but am looking for a nice
short Fleetside bed for it.

1969 Chevelle El Camino. Rebuilding a wreck and doing rust removal. Has a
mongrel 396 engine and THM 400 transmission. Right now it has a big Holley
carb on a Torker manifold and a real lumpy cam. Plan to put an original
intake manifold and carb on it. Also have all the parts to put AC in it but
have been putting off all that 'in the dash' work. Just got a factory
tach/gauge cluster and new dash pad, so looks like it can be all done in one
long painful multi-day session.

1970 Chev C-50 flatbed equipment hauler with hydraulic ramps. Making one
good truck out of two - right now the bed and long frame are on a rusted out
71 and the 70 cab is cherry. Right now it has a truck 350 2 barrel engine,
recently rebuilt. Put in a big 5 speed which is real fun to drive with the 2
speed rearend. Might put in a Brownie aux. transmission if I find one to
drop the RPMs when cruising empty. Also picked up a recently rebuilt 427
truck engine (tall deck) with original Holley 4 barrel. Plan to put that in
along with the cold air induction hood that goes with it. Also have AC from
a 72 pickup which I think can be adapted to the truck.

1972 Chevy Cheyenne 1/2 ton longbed fleetside. Has 402 big block, THM 400,
factory air. I've used it a lot to haul my 28 foot gooseneck, so have
installed a remote oil filter, oil cooler w/fan, oversize trans. pan, remote
trans. oil filter and large cooler w/fan. Have been running a 3.08 rear end,
but right now have a 3.73 from a 67 truck (narrower) in it. Am going to get
the correct rear housing set up for a 3.73, then put in a 4L80E transmission
that I got in a 'deal.' That will give overdrive of .75 and hopefully will
get the mpg higher than the current 7. Also got a set of factory bucket
seats and console to install after recovering.

1972 Chevy Cheyenne Super 1/2 ton longbed fleetside. Has 402 big block,
factory 3 speed standard and factory air. Just got this truck a few months
ago. Got hold of a 85 Corvette (Doug Nash) 4 + 3 transmission which is a
Super-T10 with an overdrive on the back. This one has been rebuilt and
beefed and was working fine behind a 468 big block in a Chevelle. Should
handle the pickup ok. Truck needs windshield and paint - really needs them.
Going to have windshield installed but will try painting it myself.

I won't tell you about my 5 John Deere's or the rehab of my workshop, new
24x35 room I'm building on the house, or the 4 car garage I've started on.
Good thing I just retired early so I can work on these things 7 days a week.
