I would increase the volts for a charged rate of 8.8 volts. Each cell is 2.2
volts, so 2.2 volts times 4 cells in the 8 volt battery is 8.8 volts. The
voltage
should be measured after the truck sits overnight. For a charging voltage, I
would set it at 2.3 volts per cell or 9.2 volts. Measure this voltage after you
start up your truck and the headlamps were burning and wearing the battery down
for 5 minutes or so. Under no conditions let the voltage rise about 9.88 volts.
If
this happens, the battery will rapidly boil and the plates may warp and get
finely
atomized battery acid all over anything in the path of the battery's vapors. If
you have an accurate ampere gauge, increase the amp output by one-third. This
will
bring you back to your original gererator output.
hope this helps
