6 cyl or V8 and 55 TF?
There is only one precedent that I can think of. . .
The 53/54 Corvettes were all 6 cyl 235ci with 6vdc electrics. For 55, the
265ci V8 was introduced and it used 12vdc electrics; however the 6 cyl
version continued thru 55. . .with the old design 6vdc electrics. I would
suspect that in the vette case that it was a matter of using up parts already
on hand for a design that was phasing out as 55 was the last year for the 6
cyl version.
Maybe GMC was also just using up existing stock? They also didn't seem to be
too bound by model years either from what I've heard from you and others on
this list.
