Has anybody installed a 75-79 Nova or 73-81 Camaro subframe in a 47-55 1st
series truck? If so, how did you handle the track width of the front tires
as far as keeping them from rubbing the lip of the fenders when you make
sharp turns? I can't ( or don't really want to) do anything more with mine
as far as wheels and tires and I presently have about 62" from center to
center on the tires. I see that I only have three options to reduce it and
they are as follows: 1) raise the front end with special high lift coil
springs, 2) buy some new 2" narrower control arms from Fatman's for
.......HOLD ON............... .......SWALLOW HARD......$700, or 3) cut the
subframe off and replace it with one from a Monte Carlo. Hopefully one of
you guys have a better suggestion but my advice to anyone out there who has
read any of the propaganda about using Nova or Camaro subframes is don't
believe it because they are too wide.
By the way mine is from a 79 Nova.
