Howdy...I'm curious why you're asking about Chevy 302s, when they are as
rare as hen's teeth...they were installed in the 67-69 Z28 Camaros, and
nothing else. If you have a real one (DZ stamped on the block) then
it's worth quite a bit of money to a Camaro restorer. Of course, you
can make your own 302 using a 327 or 350 block, if you do some parts
swapping, and buy replacement pistons for a 302.
Are you sure you aren't talking about a 305, which is very common? The
305 was used in almost all rwd Chevy cars/pickups from the late 70s
until the last year or so. A 305 is basically a 350 with a smaller
bore...the heads are different (smaller chambers and valves), cranks are
the same casting but balanced different, pistons are smaller, but the
rest is the mostly the same.
