Like he said, they will not interchange. All the front sheetmetal is
different between 55-7 and 58-9 trucks, even the core support and inner
fenders are completely different.
To section a hood, you have to cut out wedge shaped pieces from the
sides, then you'll have to do some serious recontouring of the front
also. I don't think it would work too well on a TF hood, because the
shape is not rounded like the hood on an AD, or a late 30s to late 40s
car (which usually gets this treatment). The 46-48 Chevy cars look good
with the lowered hood, as long as the rest of the car is highly
customized also.

articles on doing this on cars.
