Dave,
Just did mine on the '47.5 and it wasn't too painfull. had the leaves sand
blasted, looked good, a nice dull grey ( I thought they had already primmered
them!), i then ground off the 90 degree edge on the upper part of each leaf
(the short side.) to 45 degrees. I also smoothed the gouge that the edge had
left in the bottom face of the spring above. I then replaced the two types
of bushings (brass and steel) in each of the main leafs. Every thing but the
shackels was purchased at the local parts place. (BIG A affiliate), Then I
primmered sanded and painted several coats of black engine paint on each
individual leaf and reassembled. the hardest part was the change over. I
reccommend getting a set of springs from someone on the list who has either
clipped ot is changing to an IFS kit. The guy I got mine from had ut in an
IFS kit. This allows you to do the work at your leasure, and also alows a
quick in and out when changing. I would give you my old ones, but one side
had a broken eyelet on the back, and the other side had 10 leafs in it
because the arch was rotten.
take care and remember, it aint rocket science!
