I just went to the local hardware store and purchased a 3/4" FP to FP
gate valve and two brass hose barbs (like the fishtank connectors, but
much larger. Used for connecting flexible irrigation tubing to regular
plumbing). I cut one heater hose and inserted it inline. Cost: about
$6.00, and no more toasty toes in the summer!
Works great, I turn it on for about 4 months, off for about 8 :-)
