I have a '53 w/ 327 (10.5:1 compression), stock rams-horn manifolds, dual
exhaust with basic "Midas type" mufflers. They exit before the wheels and just
make a nice warm purr. Not real noisy but you can tell the compression is a
little higher than stock.

Mine also exit in front of the rear wheels, have cheap turbos and noise is
definitely not an issue. They are too quiet, I think. I'm thinking of
eventually running them straiht out the back with some better sounding
Flowmaster mufflers. As soon as I can afford a nice set of Sanderson
headers....
